Sidekick's Revenge

In association with the Irish Games Association we're proud to present our next UnPlugged GameCraft event in October.

Bring out the crafty side of you whether you are a game designer, storyteller, artists, table-top gamer, rpgers... you are all game-makers.

We announce a theme at the beginning of the game jam and you have 8 hours to make a game, so we challenge all of you to come along and participate. Plus you get to play the games after the jam, so it's non-stop fun right from the start.

Note: You can read more about our previous UnPlugged (incl. video of winning game) at https://www.gamecraft.it/events/gamecraft-unplugged/.

Revolutionary fervour has gripped the con in its 25th year, as we've listened to the will of the people, and the will of the people is to game! As we return to the D4 Hotel in Ballsbridge, we've taken on board contributions from gamers the length and breath of the country and beyond, and you'll be able to see the results from the 24th-27th October, 2014.

Tickets from EUR14 and you will need to buy GameCraft as an add-on because we are a special event. You can participate in our UnPlugged event as well as all the events that are happening at GaelCon.

Q. Do I need to buy a GaelCon ticket to participate in the game jam?

Yes, as we are all not-for-profits, this will help GaelCon cover expenses of room hire and other bits and pieces needed for the game jam. As with all their special events, you will need to buy a GaelCon ticket and pick GameCraft as an add-on like their other special events.

Q. What do I need to bring?

The following are just suggestions:

Q. What games can I make?

Anything from card games to board games to street games and other types of pervasive games.

Q. Do I need to be in a team?

If you are not in a team on the day, we will try and group people together on the day.

GameCraft UnPlugged at GaelCon

Mick and I were planning on making a game but we ended up buying a few boardgames and trying them out given that the tradehall, TTGs and GameCraft were all in the main hall. Which was awesome as we had people milling around and checking what we were doing. Plus Artemis was being played down the way from us.

We had 2 teams and 4 games were made! They certainly came well prepared.

But GaelCon also provided backup materials if needed like clay (or malla), markers, scissors, paper, etc.

Here are the folks playing the game "Notice Me" after the jam ended.

Quinto Kick

Here's a write-up from one of the co-creators: http://doodlebomber.wordpress.com/

Whist with a Twist

Push the King

Notice Me

Winners are...

First - Quinto Kick

Prizes: x2 GaelCon Trade passes to showcase their game

Second - Notice Me

Prizes: x2 Irish Board Game

A big thank you to everyone who came along and participated, to GaelCon who hosted us, to Microsoft Ireland as our major sponsor as well as Demonware and Sixminute.

Don't forget we have a few more GameCrafts before the year is out.

Some news!!!

We have some prizes to be won at GaelCon GameCraft UnPlugged.

There's an Irish boardgame to be won, and a chance to win the super special judges prize - the winner gets a trader stand for next year's Gaelcon to showcase their game (which will hopefully be further down the production line by then). This also includes 2 trader passes to the con next year.

How awesome is that?!?

There's still places, and but remember, you have to purchase a GaelCon ticket and add GameCraft as an add-on. Everytime I think of that, I hear a click. ;-)
